Tapner departs UBS; Chi-Won Yoon takes over

UBS announced Thursday, the new appointed CEO of Asia-Pacific to be Chi-Won Yoon. Leaving Swiss Bank, Yoon will succeed Rory Tapner who is leaving UBS. Yoon not only has a 12-year history with UBS, but he has 20 years of industry experience and also is a rocket scientist. Yoon graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a bachelors degree in electrical engineering and a masters in finance. Oswald Gruebel, group chief executive officer, speaks highly of Yoon, saying his “indisputable track record of commercial success and proven leadership skills will ensure that the firm (UBS) maintains its focus and continues to enjoy the support of its clients.” Until Yoon’s succession is made, he will continue to lead the equities and FICC (fixed income, currency and commodities) businesses.
