Job Description Summary: The Quality Engineer IV will be located onsite in the supplier’s Goodrich satellite office located in Xi’an, China and will provide leadership in the development and implementation of Goodrich quality systems at the supplier, ensuring product quality while maintaining on-time delivery and providing technical support for assigned processes to attain quality excellence with cost superiority.
He/She will ensure adherence to quality control systems and provide suggestions to suppliers for improving processes & quality control, and be a liaison with suppliers and Goodrich home based Quality Engineers to provide the focus for FAI (First Article Inspection) -inspection and response to identified corrective actions issues.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
The tasks to be completed by the on-site Quality Engineer are the following
•Ensure compliance with internal and external quality requirements.
•Coach suppliers to implement Goodrich quality control systems, monitor supplier’s process control and testing systems, and daily/monthly/yearly log sheet, and send the record back to Goodrich home base for review.
•Monitor quality systems for process areas at the assigned suppliers, including appropriate audits and associated corrective actions.
•Issue quality standards to guide the supplier’s activities in the line with Goodrich quality policies.
•Work with Process and Manufacturing Engineers to identify potential problems and root cause, troubleshoot processes to improve quality and first article clearance.
•Train and support supplier’s inspectors to ensure the quality of the products.
•Interface with design, manufacturing, shop personnel at suppliers as appropriate to ensure smooth flow of quality hardware at lowest cost.
•Support contract review.
•Coordinate and translate for meetings between suppliers and Goodrich visitors.
•Translate Goodrich documents into Chinese for suppliers when needed.
Basic Qualifications: Requirements:
•Position requires Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Technology and a minimum of 5 years experience or a Masters Degree and 4 years of experience.
Qualifications/Competencies:
•Candidates will be an experienced Quality Engineer with in-depth knowledge of composite aircraft components, manufacturing processes & assemblies, special processes, testing and quality methods, procedures, quality systems and requirements, with excellent analytical skills, and adaptable learning style.
Other Requirements:
•Selected candidate must be able to travel overseas to Goodrich facilities for training in the US.
•Must have experience working with composite materials.
•Superior communication skills Chinese and English, verbal and written are required.
