The Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO, is the first and only national organization of Asian Pacific American union members.
It continues a tradition dating from the mid-1800s of workers fighting for justice in the sugar plantations of Hawaii, the factories of Alaska, and the railroad and agricultural camps of the western United States.
This struggle continues today, as Asian Pacific American workers, many of them immigrants, strive to achieve the American dream in the face of unsafe and exploitative workplace conditions.
